Amber Heard Donating Entire Johnny Depp Divorce Settlement To Charity

Amber Heard
is giving back amid a fresh start.

On Thursday,
the 30-year-old actress announced she was donating her full divorce settlement
from estranged husband Johnny Depp to charity.

In a
statement released to Access Hollywood, Amber revealed that all the money she
received in the split would be divided equally between the ACLU and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

“As reported in the media, the amount received in the divorce
was $7 million and $7 million is being donated,” she began.

Adding, “Money
played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I
could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to
defend themselves.”

Amber went on to say that the amount is “over and above” any charitable contribution she has made in the past, adding that she will continue her philanthropic efforts into the future.

She
explained that her donation to the ACLU will have a “particular focus to
stop violence against women,” and how her volunteer work at the Children’s
Hospital of LA for the past 10 years helped inform her decision.

“I have
seen firsthand how more funding for staffing, better equipment and better
medication can make the difference between life or death for a child,”
Amber said.

“I know
these organizations will put the funds to good use and look forward to
continuing to support them in the future. Hopefully, this experience results in
a positive change in the lives of people who need it the most,” she
concluded.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Amber and Johnny agreed to settle their divorce on Tuesday.

According to
court papers obtained by Access, Heard’s
lawyers had also filed papers to dismiss her temporary restraining order — along with domestic abuse allegations against Depp which NBC News reports the
actor has denied.

The former couple married in 2015 after first meeting on
the set of their 2011 film “The Rum Diary.” Heard filed for divorce
back in May.

Access continues to reach out to Depp’s attorney for
comment on the abuse allegations.
