Amber Tamblyn Slams Nude Donald Trump Statues: ‘Body Shaming Is Never Okay’

Amber Tamblyn has a yuge issue with those nude Donald Trump
statues.

The “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” star – and
Hillary Clinton supporter – spoke out via Facebook on Sunday, after sculptures
depicting the Republican presidential candidate without clothes were displayed
publicly across the United States.

According to Amber, the life-size pieces promote negativity
and distract from the real issues.

“Body shaming is never okay,
even when it comes to Trump,” Amber wrote, captioning a photo of one of
the statues covered up with a digitally-added sign that reads, “Shame me
for my behavior not my body.”

The actress went on to explain why
she believes the now-viral exhibit is not only misdirected, but also cliché.

“These statues aren’t art:
They are a lazy, unoriginal concept,” Amber continued, crediting a Los
Angeles artist for having come up with a similar idea first.

“Stolen mind you, from Illma Gore’s painting which already made this exact same
point earlier this year. This is wholly unoriginal and uncreative,” she
concluded.

Activist art collective INDECLINE
created the Trump statues, which were displayed in New York City, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Seattle and Cleveland starting last Thursday. They have since
been removed from multiple locations.

An anonymous spokesperson for the
group told The Washington Post last week that the exhibit was intended as a
reference to the Hans Christian Andersen story “The Emperor Has No
Clothes.”

Trump, the spokesperson said,
represented their project’s objective perfectly.

“Like it or not, Trump is a
larger-than-life figure in world culture at the moment. Looking back in history,
that’s how those figures were memorialized and idolized in their time — with
statues,” the spokesperson said.

On Tuesday, Amber stood by her
opinion with a tweet hinting that she may have more to say about Trump in the
near future.

“Satirize Trump’s values to the fullest-yr about to see me do it-
but not his body like he does ours,” she wrote.
