AMC Says Yes To More Zombies, Greenlights Season 3 Of ‘The Walking Dead’

Sheriff Rick Grimes is coming back for a third season to deliver swift justice to those flesh-loving zombies on “The Walking Dead.”

AMC confirmed on Tuesday that they greenlit Season 3 of the survivalists-meet-zombies drama, based on Robert Kirkman’s comic book series, and starring Brit Andrew Lincoln.

“Today we are pleased to announce that the ‘dead’ shall live as we proudly renew ‘The Walking Dead’ for a third season on AMC and, globally, with our terrific partners at Fox International Channels,” AMC President Charlie Collier said in a statement. “We are thankful for everyone’s contribution in front of and behind the camera as we continue to make ‘The Walking Dead’ a unique television experience. And, we are so proud as it continues to set viewership records around the world.”

“The Walking Dead” has been a major hit for AMC in its second season, which just aired its second episode on Sunday.

The show’s season premiere earlier this month drew in over 11 million viewers.
