AMC's "Preacher" has a premiere date.
The upcoming series, based on the comic books from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, will make its debut on Sunday, May 22 at 10 PM ET/PT on the cable network, following the mid-season finale of "Fear the Walking Dead."
"Preacher," which is produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, a West Texas preacher who develops an unusual power after being inhabited by a mysterious entity. Ruth Negga plays his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, while Joseph Gilgun plays Irish vagabond Cassidy.
"We’re thrilled to finally be sharing this epic story with characters unlike any other on television," Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV, said in a statement. "Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have brought Garth’s writing and Steve’s artistry to life in the most gratifying way possible. Fans of the comic book and fans of just great television have a lot to look forward to as they’ll travel on an unforgettable journey and watch in unison as the craziness unfolds."
