American Idol: Father Helps Daughter Through Tearful Elimination

There was a tearful eliminee who needed comfort from her father on Thursday’s “American Idol.”

(SPOILER ALERT: This story contains the results of the elimination show.)

Amber Holcomb, just 18, narrowly missed out on the Top 3 of Season 12 when she was eliminated. And, although she tried to stay composed while performing “I Believe In You and Me” (the Whitney Houston version), the tears came and she turned away from the audience, unable to continue singing.

Show host Ryan Seacrest encouraged Amber’s dad to come on stage, and he comforted his daughter through the emotional last seconds of Thursday’s show.

While it was sad news for Amber, the final three were revealed — Angie Miller, Candice Glover and Kree Harrison will continue, competing next week for the top prize.
