‘American Idol’: Original Three Judges To Return In Some Capacity, Says Seacrest (Updated)

As “American Idol” gears up for its fifteenth
and final season, some good news – plans are taking shape to bring the three
original judges back.

On the red carpet at the Hollywood rounds, show host Ryan
Seacrest told Access Hollywood that the Fox show’s former judges will be back
for the final season.

“I’ve spoken to all of them recently and we as a
team have talked to them about coming back to do something for the final
season. They are going to do it it’s just a matter of figuring what to do with
them,” Ryan told Access Hollywood on Thursday.

The judging combination of Simon, Randy and Paula were
together for eight seasons. Paula left in Season 9, and Simon Cowell left the
show in 2010 to do “The X-Factor.”

“American Idol,” which premiered in 2002, is
responsible for turning out music powerhouses Kelly Clarkson and Carrie
Underwood who won the competition in seasons 1 and 4, respectively.

“American Idol” Season 15, the
farewell season, premieres on Wednesday, January 6 at 8/7c on Fox.
