American Idol Phillip Phillips’ Surgery Postponed (Report)

“American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips’ kidney surgery has been postponed, according to a new report.

The “Idol” Season 11 champ was reportedly set to go under the knife this week in a procedure to help remove the kidney stones that are too large to pass through on their own, but on Tuesday, per TMZ, an illness plaguing the 21-year-old has prompted a change of plans.

According to the website, Phillip has a sinus infection and a high fever, and will now have the surgery next week instead.

A rep for FOX had no comment when contacted by Access Hollywood on Tuesday.

Despite his condition, the “Idol” battled through the pain, scooping the top prize last week, and as he travelled to Access Hollywood last Thursday morning, he said he had a great support team that helped him out.

“I had great doctors and loving family and friends and just people who also help out with the show… so it was good to have those people around to keep you in and keep you going,” he said.
