“American Idol” has said goodbye to one of its Top 10 contenders.

After the members of the judges’ panel — Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj — were unable to come to a unanimous decision to use the “judges’ save,” Curtis Finch Jr., was sent home.
“Ryan, we are not unanimous, unfortunately,” Randy said after Curtis gave a stirring performance of R. Kelly’s “I Believe I Can Fly.”
Nicki Minaj, who had been a strong supporter of Curtis’, said she felt there wasn’t enough time to deliberate.
“I think we really needed an extra minute to discuss it. I don’t feel like there was a real discussion about it,” she said. “I know it’s a live show, but…”
Thursday’s show also featured the return of Charlie Askew, who came on to perform an original song with the hopes of earning a wild card spot on the bus for the “Idol Live!” summer tour.
The young man, 17, performed his own number, which he said was about a relationship.
“[I wrote it] a few months ago, actually,” Charlie told Ryan, after he performed. “I was torn between choosing almost a two-and-a-half year relationship over doing the show. So, it means a lot. It’s nerve-wracking.”
Aubrey Cleland was also brought back for a chance at winning that spot on the bus. She performed “On My Own,” from the “Fame” musical.
Viewers can vote for their favorite on AmericanIdol.com and the winner will be revealed on the show.
“American Idol” continues next Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX.
