‘American Idol’ Sends Another Contestant Home Revealing Top 4

“American Idol” said goodbye to one of the guys on Thursday’s elimination show, reducing the Top 5 to just four contenders.

Teenager Aaron Kelly, the only school-aged competitor on the show, was finally sent on his way, having failed to secure enough viewer votes to last another week on the FOX reality program.

“I had a blast,” the young man, who turned 17 during the competition, told show host Ryan Seacrest after learning the news.

When asked by Ryan how old he thinks he is now, thanks to the experience he gained from the show, Aaron smiled and said, “definitely still 17.”

Joining Aaron in the bottom 2 on Wednesday was Michael Lynche. Despite both receiving poor comments from the judges, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James each had enough votes to stay safe. Lee DeWyze was the first contender told he was safely through to next week.

Aaron ended his “Idol” tenure with a commanding performance of the Frank Sinatra classic “Fly Me To The Moon.”

The evening also featured two group performances by the final five “Idols,” a performance from this week’s mentor, Harry Connick Jr., and a colorful performance from Lady Gaga who sang her latest single, “Alejandro.”

Jaime Foxx will return to mentor the contestants on “Idol” next week, helping them out with “songs from the cinema,” Ryan announced.
