‘American Idol’ Winner Trent Harmon ‘Ready To Go To Work’

Trent Harmon may have won the final “American
Idol” title, but he’s not taking anything for granted.

“I am fully aware and I acknowledged the fact that all
that happened tonight was it placed me at the bottom of the next level up, and
I’m going to keep that mindset until – until,” he told Access Hollywood’s
Liz Hernandez after Thursday night’s show. “So I’m super, super
appreciative, but at the same time, I’m ready to go to work.”

Trent fell to the floor after show host Ryan Seacrest
revealed that he’d taken the title, and the singer explained why when he
spoke to Liz backstage.

“There was so much decompression that left my body. It’s like I’ve been tense for a year because I auditioned almost a year ago, and it’s like it finally left my body and I was able to just accept it and be happy for a second, you know?” he said.

When asked how he expected to feel on Friday morning, the singer, from Amory, Miss., said exhausted, but ready to move forward, with judge Keith Urban’s advice in his head.

“Tired. Tired,” Trent said. “I told Mr. Keith this about three weeks ago — he said, ‘What are you thinking up there?’ I said ‘Man, I don’t know what I’m doing half the time,’ and he said, ‘That’s great.’ He said, ‘Get to where you do know what you’re doing, but keep that mindset. Just wakeup hungry, but be coachable,’ and I’m coachable. I don’t know what I’m going to do tomorrow, but I’ve got good people around me. ‘Idol’s’ placed people around me that I trust and I’m going to do what they tell me to do.”
