Amy Adams Gives Up First-Class Seat To U.S. Serviceman

As if people needed even more reason to love Amy Adams!

The Oscar nominee made headlines on Friday, when she gave up her first-class seat to an American serviceman on her flight from Detroit to Los Angeles.

Among those on board the flight who witnessed Adams’ act of kindness was ESPN’s Jemele Hill, who Tweeted about the heartwarming incident.

“Just saw actress Amy Adams do something incredibly classy. She gave her 1st class seat to an American soldier. I’m an even bigger fan now,” Hill wrote on her Twitter page on Friday morning.

In an e-mail interview with Today.com, the sports reporter explained how it all unfolded.

“When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier’s way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with,” Hill said in an e-mail from the plane to Today.com. “Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class. I was upgraded to first class and she was a couple rows behind me. I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat.”

Although Hill – who hosts ESPN’s “Numbers Never Lie” — first thought the actress did it anonymously, she later learned – via a flight attendant – that the serviceman, in fact, spoke with Adams privately after the switch had been made.

“I just thought it was incredibly classy and thoughtful,” Hill said. “I already was a fan of hers, but now I’m a bigger one after today.”

Adams, who was nominated for an Oscar earlier this year for her role in “American Hustle,” is the daughter of U.S. serviceman.
