Actress/comedienne Amy Poehler’s life has changed quite a bit since her 2008 departure from “Saturday Night Live” and the birth of her two sons with actor Will Arnett, Archie, 2, and Abel, 9 months.
Now, the 39-year-old “SNL” alum — who says she’s “lucky to get everybody out the door without Cheerios stuck to their pajamas” — reveals how leaving the late night comedy sketch show has dramatically altered her schedule.
“I stopped being a vampire. Before kids, there wasn’t a night for 10 years that Will and I went to sleep before 2 AM,” Amy told Parade magazine in an interview for their May 15 edition. “I’d sleep until noon or one, and I thought 10:30 AM was early. Now I’m sound asleep by 11:30 every night, and the kids wake us up around seven— on a good day.”
Though Amy now stars in her own NBC comedy, “Parks and Recreation,” she can’t resist watching “SNL” and offering her sage advice to her former cast members.
“I’ll watch it first thing on Sunday. Then I’ll text Seth Meyers [her former co-host on the Weekend Update segments] to say what I liked,” Amy explained. “I’m a Sunday-morning comedy quarterback!”
The former “Baby Mama” star also admitted that while she may be technologically savvy, she spends “as little” time as possible online, and steers clear of social networking.
“Facebook gives me anxiety,” Amy told the mag. “The thought of connecting with all those people from kindergarten on up fills me with terror.”
Amy also opened up about her surprising childhood inspirations and the posters she proudly hung on her wall of her three biggest heroes.
“I had Miss Piggy, the cast of ‘Fame,’ and Eleanor Roosevelt [posters],” Amy said. “Even now, I try to live my life somewhere between the three of them.”
