Amy Ryan Talks Steve Carell’s Potential ‘Office’ Replacement: ‘That’s A Tough Pair Of Shoes To Fill’

Even as a relative newcomer to the Dunder Mifflin family, Amy Ryan says she’s noticed some of her “Office” cast mates acting a bit peculiar around the departing Steve Carell.

“There are a lot of people eyeing his job, cleaning out his trailer,” the at the Sundance Film Festival, where she’s promoting her new film “Win Win.”

Amy, who plays Human Resources gal and apple of Michael Scott’s (Carell) eye Holly Flax on the NBC show, said producers have remained very hush-hush when it comes to discussing potential replacements for Steve.

“There’s no inside word. They’re being very secretive about it,” Amy told Access, jokingly referring to her stint on the show as her “day job.” “Probably [because] they don’t have anybody yet. I think that’s a tough pair of shoes to fill.”

As for the mood on the set with Steve’s impending departure, Amy admitted it’s bittersweet.

“I think everyone is going to be sad, it’s going to be a big adjustment. But, it’ll be good for Steve – he’s going to get to go out and make more movies,” she added.

Prior to his final episode, Michael Scott will get at least one special visitor. As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, “The Office” UK creator/star and U.S. executive producer Ricky Gervais will make a brief cameo on this Thursday’s episode as his UK character, David Brent.
