Ana Ortiz Dishes On Devious Maids; Will Eva Longoria Guest Star?

Ana Ortiz, best known for her role on “Ugly Betty,” returns to the small screen in the upcoming Lifetime series, “Devious Maids,” a show she was first uncertain about doing.

“When I first got the script, I definitely had that reaction of like, ‘Really, we have to be maids?’” she said on Monday’s Access Hollywood Live of the new show, which has five Latina women (including Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes) in the lead roles as maids.

“But, I read the script and really, really enjoyed it and I met with Marc [Cherry] and talked with him about his vision… and I thought, this is exactly what I want to be doing ,” she continued.

In fact, she believes the show honors many who came before her.

“My grandmother cleaned houses her whole life… So I think it’s actually quite an honor to bring these stories to life and bring these women to life and just because they’re maids doesn’t make their stories any less interesting or any less full or any less real,” she told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.

In addition to having “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry on board, Eva Longoria is executive producing the series.

“If you loved ‘Desperate Housewives,’ this is going to be great for you,” Ana said.

But will Eva be doing more than just producing on the steamy show?

“I don’t know [if she will guest star]. She’s not on it this season, but I know she’s going to come direct next season, so hopefully we get her behind the camera and in front of the camera,” Ana revealed.

Adding, “[Eva] really feels so passionate about the show.”

“Devious Maids” premiers on June 23 at 10/9c on Lifetime.
