Andrew Garfield: Nude Photo Hack Is A Violation ‘Of Divine Womanhood’

Andrew Garfield is standing up for women.

In an interview at the Toronto International Film Festival with The Daily Beast, the “Spider-Man” star was asked about the recent celebrity nude photo hack, and he shared his strong opinion.

“It’s disgusting,” Andrew told the website. “It’s this violent, abusive violation of womanhood — of divine womanhood. It’s violent, and it’s misogynistic, and it’s revolting, and it’s another example of what this distance has enabled us to do — it’s enabled us to be disassociated from each other.”

Andrew told The Daily Beast he hopes that the celeb nude photo hack will help lead people to think twice, saying, “hopefully we’ll get to the point of, ‘OK, wait a second.'”

In the interview, the actor was also asked about “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Andrew went on to reveal that he had to stop reading reactions from people who saw the film because he felt like it was changing his own opinion of the project.

Andrew went on to claim that as the film went through the process of being made, portions were removed.

“Once you start removing things and saying, ‘No, that doesn’t work,’ then the thread is broken, and it’s hard to go with the flow of the story. Certain people at the studio had problems with certain parts of it, and ultimately the studio is the final say in those movies because they’re the tentpoles, so you have to answer to those people,” he said.

But the actor added he remains “proud of a lot of it and had a good time.”

“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” was given a compiled 53-percent rating with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, while 68-percent of theater goers liked it.
