Angelina Jolie: Brad Pitt & I ‘Were Both Racing To See [Who] Gets To Retire First’

Brad Pitt recently told an Australian newsmagazine program that he was hoping to stop acting by 50, a comment he later backtracked from. But, the actor’s partner, Angelina Jolie, said retirement is something they are both interested in.

“Is that something you would support, because then it would all be on your shoulders?” Anderson Cooper asked the actress, who sat down for an interview, set to be broadcast on the newsman’s daytime television talk show, “Anderson,” on Monday.

“I’m happy for it. No, we were both racing to see which one of us gets to retire first,” Angelina said. “We both, like most people, we like being home. Whoever is the one who’s home tends to be the happier one because we get to play with the kids and the other one is out earning the money.”

Angelina’s interest in staying home is one of the reasons she finds all the tabloid attention on her life “funny,” as she told Anderson. In fact, the actress considers herself “boring.”

“I’m the most boring,” she told Anderson.

“I don’t really believe that,” Anderson replied.

“I’m not totally boring, but we do often say that because we don’t go out clubbing, we’re not big into fashion. We do a lot of dealing with kids and stuff,” she said.

One of the things Angelia and Brad are doing for their brood, is making sure their adopted young ones have charitable roots in their home countries.

“They have programs in their countries [for] each of them we’re starting,” Angelia told Anderson. “There’s a TB/AIDS clinic being built for Zahara; there’s a clinic already for Mad[dox]. So each of them will take that responsibility. They are from their country and they are of their country and they should know that, it’s part of their family, we are their family but so is their country.”

Angelina and Brad have three adopted children – Maddox, Pax and Zahara – and three natural – Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox but Angelina said she doesn’t notice which is which.

“I couldn’t tell you in my own home who’s adopted and who’s not,” Angelina told Anderson. “It doesn’t cross my mind. There is something really wonderful when you adopt a child from another country because that whole country enters your house. We have different languages in our house, we have different flags up in our house, we have different food and culture and discussions and we go to their countries.”
