Angelina Jolie Gets The Stamp Of Approval From Brood For ‘Kung Fu Panda 2,’ Says Kids Were Not Upset By Film’s Exploration Of Adoption

The ever-elegant Angelina Jolie headed to Cannes, France, this week to promote her new film, “Kung Fu Panda 2” at the city’s famed film festival, and the glowing mother of six says the animated flick was a big hit with her and partner Brad Pitt’s large brood.

“I brought all [my kids to the movie] – from 2 to almost 10,” she told Access Hollywood guest correspondent Tim Vincent at the film’s junket in Cannes on Wednesday. “I was nervous at first. I didn’t know if they were going to react to some of the issues – very personal family issues [like] adoption and inner peace — and was it too heavy? Or was it too beautiful and not goofy enough?

“And they laughed through the whole movie out loud – they loved it,” she continued. “They’ve asked to see it again. I’m a hero at home!”

The DreamWorks sequel tackles the issue of adoption – a topic that hits close to home for a few members of the diverse Jolie-Pitt clan – but the 35-year-old actress said her kids are used to the delicate issue, as she and Brad make an effort to keep the conversation about the children’s backgrounds as open as possible

“One of the questions [brought up in the film is about] being a family and how family is made, and adopted families as well,” Angelina told Tim. “And because it’s such an open discussion in our house, it wasn’t a new issue for them. They were just very proud to be more like Po and Tigress [Jack Black and Angelina’s ‘Kung Fu’ characters], so it was, you know, somehow more familiar”

“Kung Fu Panda 2,” which also features the voices of Dustin Hoffman, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, Gary Oldman and Jackie Chan, opens nationwide on May 26.
