Angelina: Wedding Ceremony Is ‘Nothing’

LONDON (June 7, 2006) — On Wednesday, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made their first public appearance since the birth of their daughter, and let the cat out of the bag concerning their future plans.

Access talked to Freddy Philander of the New Era newspaper, who spoke to the couple at a news conference for local journalists at a hotel in the coastal town of Swakopmund.

?She looked radiant for a mother who just had a baby,? Freddy told Access. ?I think both of them. Brad was in a very jovial mood, but he was sometimes emotional, obviously being a first time father.?

Angelina and Brad denied wedding bells are in the air, saying they want to concentrate on their newborn daughter and two older children.

“There is nothing in the air. The focus is the kids, and we are obviously extremely committed to the children and as parents together,” Jolie, 30, said. “So that kind of says it for us, and to have a ceremony on top of it is nothing.”

As for those first baby photos of Shiloh Nouvel, People and Hello! magazines launched legal actionagainst two Web sites that published a picture of Angelina and Brad with their newborn daughter.

Brand and Angelina sold rights to the images of Shiloh, born May 27 in Namibia, through Getty Images photo agency. The couple said all proceeds would be donated to a charity, not yet named.

People magazine paid a reported $4 million for the right to release the pictures in North America, while Hello! obtained British rights.

The embargo on the images was broken when two gossip Web sites posted an apparent image of the front cover of Hello!

Hello! denies leaking the photo, saying its cover was kept strictly under wraps. The magazine said it and People “have taken immediate legal action to prevent publication of its cover prior to it going on sale” Thursday in Britain.

The snapshot leak is not expected to affect sales of Hello! or People, but Access has learned that People may up its usual price of $3.49 to $3.99 for the special issue.

Meanwhile, Brad and Angelina thanked Namibia for the peace and privacy the couple enjoyed in Africa.

“We have been able to have a very special, peaceful time for our family here, exploring your country and more importantly helping with the delivery of our daughter Shiloh,” Brad said. “So for that we are eternally grateful.”

Angelina, 30, gave birth to Shiloh Nouvel at a private clinic in Walvis Bay. Delivered by Caesarean section, the baby weighed 7 pounds and was said to be in good health.

Brad, 42, and Jolie retreated to the southwest African country with their children for government-assisted privacy in the weeks leading up to the birth. They plan to leave in the coming days.

The couple is expected to fly to see Angelina?s mom and Access has learned thatestranged grandfather, Jon Voight, may get a visit too.

?I spoke to her afterwards and she confirmed Jon Voight, her father, is looking forward to, and her mother, to see her grandchild,? Freddy told us. “They went on to say that Brad would be going in August, will start on one of those, the ?Ocean’s 11? films, they will be starting working on that.?

Angelina, relaxed and smiling in a long black dress, said the couple had sought a place where they could spend some special time with her children, 16-month-old Zahara, adopted from Ethiopia, and 4-year-old Maddox, adopted from Cambodia. Both children had their surnames legally changed to Jolie-Pitt after Brad announced his intention to adopt them as well.

“We both had traveled to Africa and loved this part of the world,” the actress said.

Bradand Jennifer Aniston divorced last year.
