Anne Hathaway On Her ‘Intellectual Orgy With Jake Gyllenhaal & Plans For Motherhood

Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal got close on the set of “Love and Other Drugs,” so close that the two experienced what they called an “intellectual orgy.”

“We had to go to a lot of emotionally and physically vulnerable places and we spent a lot of time rehearsing,” Anne told the UK’s Mirror newspaper about making the film, which just opened in Britain.

“We talked about our own experiences with love and intimacy, about what turned us on and what didn’t. So it was completely open from the get-go. Jake described it as a kind of intellectual orgy and I think that sums it up best!” she added.

Since she became a household name in 2001, starring in Disney’s “The Princess Diaries,” Anne has been working nearly non-stop, racking up box office hits with films like “Ella Enchanted,” “Brokeback Mountain” (where she played Jake’s wife), “Get Smart,” “Bride Wars,” and the gritty “Rachel Getting Married.”

While she’s been happy with her career, Anne, 28, said she is looking to diversify her life a little more.

“I’ve always been such a driven person,” Anne told the newspaper. “I work very hard and right now I’m trying to find a balance.

“On the one hand there’s my job, which I love and which has been my everything for so long, and then there’s making sure the people in my life feel loved and appreciated, and that I spend enough time with them,” she continued. “Let’s say I’m learning to walk the walk.”

She’s also learning about other things she wants in her life – like, eventually, motherhood.

“I’m dying to be a mother,” she told the paper. “I’m not ready for it yet, but it’s one of the joys of life that I’m looking forward to so very much.”
