Anne Hathaway Praises Kate Middleton For Making Fashion In Hollywood Glamorous Again

Anne Hathaway once played a princess on the big screen, but she has a lot of admiration for a duchess – Duchess of Cambridge Kate – who she credits for bringing ladylike style back into fashion.

“Can I tell you how grateful I am to Kate Middleton?” Anne told USA Today. “Because she is such an advocate for dressing like a lady.

Anne credits Kate for cleaning up the stylebook in Hollywood.

“I think for a few years that kind of slightly dirty look was adopted by Hollywood – you know, the stringy hair, homeless thing. And I really tried,” Anne laughed. “I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to give that a go.’ [But] it doesn’t suit me, I don’t suit it. I always looked kind of chubby.”

Kate has been praised in the fashion press for bringing back stockings – she often skips the bare-legged look – and she continues to influence Anne with each and every new look.

“Right now my fashion choices are all about Kate Middleton,” Anne said.

Anne actually plays a Brit in “One Day,” her new indie drama opposite Jim Sturgess.

The film is due out on August 19.

She’ll follow that up in an outfit Kate is unlikely to wear — skin-tight leather — as Catwoman in the new Batman film – “The Dark Knight Rises,” which will hit theaters on May 2, 2011.
