Anne Hathaway Surprises NYC Students With Invitation To Perform At Oscars

Anne Hathaway gave the students at New York’s PS22 quite a surprise on Thursday – they’re headed to the Oscars!

Not only will they be in attendance – they’ll be performing!

The “Love and Other Drugs” actress thrilled the fifth-graders of the school’s PS 22 Chorus when she made a surprise entrance at their Annual Winter Concert, telling the young singers, “Wow – you guys are incredible!

“That was the greatest concert,” Anne continued, almost completely drowned out by the screams of the amazed students. “I was sitting right in the back – you were awesome!”

The cheering rose to a fever pitch as the 28-year-old beauty announced the chorus would be traveling to Hollywood to perform at the prestigious awards ceremony.

PS22 has gained recognition over the last few years through video sharing on YouTube. Begun in 2000 and comprised of over 60 fifth-graders, the chorus is directed by Gregg Breinberg. Over the years, the chorus has performed on “Good Morning America” and “VH1 Divas” as well as at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall and at the National Tree Lighting ceremony at the White House.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Anne Hathaway and “127 Hours” actor, James Franco, will co-host the 83rd annual Academy Awards, which will air live on ABC on February 27, 2011.
