Another Contender Sent Home On ‘American Idol’

“American Idol” has one less woman vying for the title in Season 11.

(SPOILER – this story contains the results of Thursday’s results show.)

Tall teen Shannon Magrane narrowly missed out on the Top 10 “American Idol” tour group when she was eliminated on Thursday’s show.

From Tampa, Fla., the 16-year-old was in an all-girl bottom 3 earlier in the evening, alongside Erika Van Pelt and Elise Testone, after voters failed to rally behind her performance of the Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men classic “One Sweet Day,” the night before.

The elimination wasn’t a shocker, but she had been praised by the judges the night before.

“By the end — that run you sang, we looked at each other, the three of us were like, ‘Yo! This girl’s got something going on up in here,’” judge Randy Jackson had commented on Wednesday.

But when Shannon attempted the same song again, full of nerves, and knowing the only thing that could keep her on the show was the judges’ save, she didn’t have a big enough performance to sway the panel.

“Unfortunately, we’re not gonna use it tonight,” Randy said of the judges’ decision not to use their one save.

Still, the teen said she appreciated Randy, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez’s feedback over the weeks.

“I thank you guys so much because you guys have been so loyal to me and so honest with me — you three especially, and… it feels so good standing on this stage. It feels so good,” she said.

“American Idol” returns Wednesday night at 8/7c on FOX.
