Arden Cho Previews ‘Teen Wolf’ Season 5, Talks New Villains

“Teen Wolf” gave fans a sneak peek at the first five minutes of Season 5 recently, and a comment from Lydia had fans immediately worried.

In those opening moments of the premiere (which airs in full on Monday at 10 PM ET/PT on MTV), Lydia (Holland Roden) predicted that all her friends are going to die.

“I think I got a lot of ‘Noooooo!’ or like, ‘What happens to Kira? What happens to the pack?'” Arden Cho, who plays Kira, told Access Hollywood of the reaction she received on social media when the clip was first released.

“I love the way they chose to sort of open the season, because I think it’ll just make it really exciting as it sort of unravels throughout,” she added.

Kira’s opening sequence though, thankfully won’t be as intense as Lydia’s. From what Arden told Access, it sounds like her character’s first Season 5 scene will take a sweet tone.

“I will say I love the way that we kind of come back into it for Kira,” Arden said. “For me, I thought it was kind of funny. It’s like romantic and funny at the same time — funny because of the way Stiles and Scott sort of handle it, but romantic for the way it actually turns out. That totally makes sense if you watch Episode 1. … I don’t want to spoil it, but… there’s a couple scenes, like one between Scott and Stiles that I love and one between Scott and Kira that I think is really, really cute.”

But this is “Teen Wolf” and with the new season, a new villainous force is coming for the gang at Beacon Hills – the Dread Doctors.

“We still don’t really know exactly who or what the Dread Doctors are and so that’s… I think, what we’re trying to figure out,” Arden said. “You’ve gotta know your enemy before you can defeat them. It’s hard to know when it’s something as unique and strange as a Dread Doctor. I mean, what is a Dread Doctor? We don’t really know, and I hope we find out in Season 5.”

Although plotlines are top secret, one thing Arden could reveal about the new villains is that her character will cross paths with them in a very scary way.

“I have a really, really creepy encounter, that’s for sure. I mean, I was very uncomfortable filming it, so I think when people see it, they’ll know what I was talking about,” she said. “They’re pretty creepy. There’s really nothing good about them.”

In preparation to shoot the new season of the MTV show, Arden did a lot of work with her character’s sword.

“I’ve been training a lot on the sword and getting a little bit more comfortable with that and so we do have some really big fights this season and those are always my favorite,” she told Access Hollywood. “I think it’s just so fun and challenging and exciting, just also as a female character, to be able to play someone who’s strong and also kind of can hold her own. So it’s been a lot of fun.”

Beyond the new villains and the fights, fans can expect some romantic moments for Scott (Tyler Posey) and Kira.

“Definitely. I think this season there’s a lot more closeness between the two characters and they’re just more comfortable now, and you know, we’re not the only ones getting romantic. I feel like this season there’s a lot of romance — a lot more than ‘Teen Wolf’ has had, which is amazing when we’re trying to fight for our lives and save each other, but still somehow managing time to go to school and have romance in our lives,” Arden laughed.

There is also a new player in the mix. Cody Christian from “Pretty Little Liars” will play a new character named Theo.

“Cody’s awesome. So much fun to work with. Really talented,” Arden said.

“I think he adds a really fun spice to the season as well,” she added.

And the actor had a birth by water on his first day as a member of the “Teen Wolf” cast.

“I think his first day filming was probably tough because we were shooting in the rain,” she said. “You get used to it, but it’s always tough, I think, the first day. It’s hard to be wet for many, many hours.”

In addition to working on “Teen Wolf” and making stops around the world speaking and performing, Arden is working in the world of watches. She has been spending time working on the watch brand she is an owner in, Leonard & Church.

“I think wearing a watch really pulls together a look and it is also classy too,” she said of her love of timepieces. “If you’re in a meeting, or even if you’re in class [and] you’re doing something, it’s kind of rude to like pull out your phone and check the time. If you just glance at your watch — not as bad. So it’s a little bit more subtle, and I think in this day and age where people are just glued to their phones, it’s so nice to just kind of like put your phone away and not have an excuse to keep looking at it, you know?”
