Arrow Season 2 Preview: Emily Bett Rickards Would Like Felicity To Find Love

Emily Bett Rickards says she would like to see Felicity Smoak find a love interest on The CW’s “Arrow.”

“Yes, I think that’d be nice for her,” Emily said when Warner Bros. flew Access Hollywood up to the “Arrow” set in Vancouver and made us their guests. “As much as we see Felicity as being grounded, as much as she can be, and honest, it’s harder to see the forest through the trees. … She’s lost too and lonely. Diggle, Oliver and Felicity are all very lonely people without each other and it’d be really important for them to have somebody else outside of the trio.”

The CW series returns for its second season next Wednesday at 8/7c (before the premiere of “The Tomorrow People” at 9/8c) and when it does, Felicity is still harboring her crush on Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen.

“She’s still super awkward and super hopeless and [it’s] just like, ‘Felicity! Come on! Put on some army boots or something.’ Like, ‘Dude! Do something,’” the actress said when one reporter on the trip asked about Felicity’s feelings for her boss, the vigilante. “I think this is her first sort of like social club or having a family — that sort of thing, and she really doesn’t want to ruin that. I think that’s the fear… she doesn’t want to ruin that and we get to see her still play with Oliver and still be awkward and weird, but also, reach him on a friend level as well and give him sort of an emotional depth and purpose — purpose to that relationship.”

And in the show’s season premiere, Felicity is going the extra mile, traveling to Lian Yu to find Oliver, who has fled back to the place he was stranded on for five years, following the man-made earthquake that rocked The Glades in the Season 1 finale.

“The island, full of dangers, obviously. Oliver describes it as the worst place on earth. Felicity and Diggle arrive and they just — I think they are completely astounded and overwhelmed with the fact that Oliver has spent five years there and has decided to come back,” Emily said. “And so, obviously, the reason he’s decided to come back, I mean, what kind of psychological state are you in that you go back to the worst time of your life where you became this killer? And so we end up there, we end up finding Oliver and trying to get a lost Oliver found. [We’re just trying] to put him back together.”
