Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards: Felicity Is ‘Intrigued’ By Barry Allen

On December 4 on The CW’s “Arrow,” fans will meet Barry Allen (the character who becomes The Flash) for the first time. And on Friday, Emily Bett Rickards, who plays Felicity Smoak, said she expects fans to be impressed with the introduction of Grant Gustin’s character.

“I think they’re gonna like it,” she told AccessHollywood.com on Friday of the upcoming episode. “I think it’s a really cool introduction, especially bringing a DC Comics character as big as The Flash, and as popular and as well-known and as well -loved and Grant does a great job. He’s a really smart actor and I think people are really gonna like it.

Felicity is an I.T. expert and she will be impressed by forensic science guy Barry.

“She’s very intrigued. They have a lot in common,” Emily said. “I think it takes a lot to like spike Felicity’s interest, especially with people. I think she finds a lot of people mundane and boring, and I think that she’s just very like intrigued and sort of like, leans in. It’s like, ‘Who are you?’ So that’s kind of cool.”

And, according to Emily, Felicity might be more than just intrigued with the Starling City newcomer.

“I think there’s a spark,” she said, when Access asked if there’s potential for romance. “There’s definitely flashy sparks.”

The first time Emily met “Glee” alum Grant, he was having some fun on the “Arrow” Vancouver set.

“He was tap dancing on set the first time I saw him, I’m pretty sure,” she laughed. “He was like doing the groove and I’m like ‘Ah! You can dance! Damn it!’ Because I really want to be able to dance.

“He’s a really cool dude too,” she added. “He’s like a dude’s dude as well. He’s super dorky!”

Many fans — including Emily’s friends — know Grant’s work playing Sebastian Smythe, a nasty member of The Warblers on “Glee.”

“My friend was like, I only see him as the guy on ‘Glee,’ … And she goes, ‘I just kind of want to meet him so that I don’t have image of him in my head all the time,’” she laughed.

“The Scientist” episode of “Arrow” airs December 4 at 8/7c on The CW.
