Attorney: Gary Coleman’s Funeral Set For Weekend In Utah; Estranged Parents To Attend

Gary Coleman will be laid to rest in Utah this weekend, according to several online reports.

A funeral service for the former “Diff’rent Strokes” star – who died on Friday at age 42 – will take place in Salt Lake City, the star’s attorney Randy Kester confirmed to Radar Online and Us Weekly.

“The funeral will take place towards the end of the week either Friday or Saturday in Salt Lake City,” Kester told Radar.
Although Kester said the exact location had yet to be determined, he told Us Weekly it will likely be held “at a place called Lake Hills Mortuary.”

Kester also revealed that Coleman’s parents – Sue and Willie Coleman, whom the actor had been estranged from over the last few decades of his life – would be in attendance.

The former child star sued his parents and a former business adviser in 1989 over alleged misappropriation of his multi-million dollar childhood trust. In 1993, he was awarded a $1.2 million from the courts.

“It’s been kind of hard [for his parents],” Kester told Us Weekly, noting he had spoken to Sue “a couple days ago. “There are a lot of emotions surrounding all of it.”

Coleman’s death, which followed an intracranial hemorrhage caused by a fall in the home he shared with wife Shannon Price outside Salt Lake City, has left his family – and especially his wife – understandably shaken, Kester added.

“I just spoke with his wife Shannon and she is still shocked that Gary has gone, but she is getting on with planning the funeral now and taking care of the business aspect of things,” Kester told Radar.
