Avengers 2: Joss Whedon Says ‘Brother-Sister Act’ In New Film – Could It Be Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver?

Joss Whedon dropped a huge hint regarding new comic book characters being added to “The Avengers 2,” and fan boys (and girls!) are in a frenzy trying to determine which superheroes are set to make their Marvel Universe big screen debut come 2015.

“I’ve got my favorite characters from the comic books – a brother-sister act – they’re in the movie,” the director told Yahoo! Movies at the “Iron Man 3” premiere this week, when asked about the status of the “Avengers 2” screenplay. “That’s exciting!”

The consensus among online fans is that the most likely pairing would be Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver (Wanda and Pietro Maximoff).

If correct, the introduction of the siblings could lead to exciting cameos and crossover storylines in the future, as the two characters are the twin children of another huge comic-turned-movie-franchise player, “X-Men’s” Magneto.

While Joss is “excited” about the second “Avengers” installment, he admitted the pressure to do justice to the beloved superheroes while penning the script can be overwhelming at times.

“Sometimes, yeah, I feel pressure. But you put that aside when you’re in the story, when you’re dealing with characters that you love – that everybody loves – when you’ve got the new characters sliding in next to them, it’s like, very exciting,” he said.

Adding, “Then I don’t feel pressure. It’s like I’m reading my favorite comic.”

“The Avengers 2” is slated for theatrical release on May 1, 2015.
