Barbra Streisand Ready To Make Regis Philbin’s Dream Come True… ‘Maybe’

Barbra Streisand revealed to Access Hollywood over the weekend that she might be willing to make one of Regis Philbin’s dreams come true.

Late last month, in an interview with Access’ Tony Potts, Regis said there was one guest he was sad he did not get during his tenure on “Live! With Regis & Kelly” – Barbra Streisand. But the superstar told Access’ Shaun Robinson that she is willing to remedy Regis’ woes before he departs his show in November – if he makes a cross-country trip.

“God, he’s so sweet,” Barbra said when Shaun shared Regis’ words.

“Well, if he comes to LA — I’m not going to freezing New York,” she laughed.

“OK, so if he comes to you, you’ll do it?” Shaun asked.

“Maybe,” Barbra said.

On Friday, days before her Grammys performance, the music legend was honored as the recipient of the Grammys MusiCares Person of the Year honor, and she also performed at that bash, singing “Memories.”

“You said you were a little bit nervous before going out there – what makes you nervous?” Shaun asked.

“I don’t know, might not hit a note perfectly or something,” Barbra said. “I wish I drank, I don’t drink, I hate liquor.”

“You don’t drink anything at all?” Shaun asked.

“No, cranberry juice and soda water,” Barbra noted, before quickly clarifying her alcohol statement.

“I like a good beer now and then – especially with Chinese food or Japanese food,” she added.

Honored by the Grammy’s MusiCares for her philanthropy toward women and heart disease, Barbra revealed that the cause is something very close to her own family.

“My mother had open heart surgery, my grandparents died of heart disease, but that may be too much chopped liver you know and stuff like that – nutrition, but heart disease kills more women than all cancers combined, that’s radical,” she told Shaun.

While accepting the award, Barbra couldn’t ignore the fact that a younger generation is now exposed to her classics thanks to “Glee.”

“My niece recently watched a DVD of ‘Funny Girl’ for the first time and asked me why I was singing songs from ‘Glee,’” Barbra said on stage at the MusiCares event.

And the music legend admitted that she has seen a bit of “Glee” herself.

“Lea Michele – have you seen her do any of your songs on ‘Glee’?” Shaun asked.

“I did, I recently saw them,” Barbra said.

“And what did you think?” Shaun probed.

“Very sweet voice. Yeah, she’s very, very sweet,” Barbra noted.

And Barbra and Lea actually met up after the Grammys.

“As if this night at the Grammys wasn’t amazing enough…waiting at the valet… Mrs Barbra Streisand came up to me. I can barely breath,” Lea Tweeted. “She was so wonderful, kind and beyond nice. I can’t believe I just met my idol. I feel so blessed and thankful right now.”

Last year, another leading lady paid photo homage to Barbra – Jennifer Aniston in Harper’s Bazaar – and the superstar revealed she actually had a hand in the pictorial.

“I had met her briefly before that, but that was fun. I mean, I came to her house, lent her a dress, you know, gave her my opinions on some of the shots and it was fun,” Barbra said.
