‘Believe’ It! Cher’s Returning To Vegas

If Cher could turn back time, she’d probably take back naming her last jaunt in 2005 a “Farewell” tour, because she’s just announced she’s dusting off her vocal pipes and hitting Las Vegas for a stint at Caesar’s Palace.

The newly-blonde diva will make her un-retired Vegas debut on May 6 at the Coliseum at Caesar’s and perform four shows a week for a month. Then, after a brief respite from the strip, Cher will return in August, performing shows through October. She has a live deal with concert promoters AEG for three years, USA Today reported.

According to a report on ABC.com, Cher is likely to receive $60 million for her return, though in an interview with ABC News’ Cynthia McFadden, the singer wouldn’t confirm the amount.

“I know it’s a lot, but I don’t care. If it’s a lot, if someone says, ‘Ooh, it’s a lot,’ OK. fine. It must be a lot,” Cher told ABC.

Cher hinted that one reason she may be returning to the stage is because she suffers from depression.

“When you have depression sometimes you feel like, you know, you’re completely alone,” Cher said. “Work helps me a lot. I enjoy the work, but the work keeps you moving as well. It just keeps you moving, it keeps you around people. You don’t get a chance to go, ‘Oh, what’s life about?’ You’re just doing something. You’re being productive.”

The “Believe” singer will fill the slot left vacant by Celine Dion who wrapped up her lengthy Vegas run at Caesar’s late last year.

Returning to Vegas no doubt brings back many memories for the superstar, including the time she didn’t frequent the locale after Elvis Presley asked her out.

“When he called I was just too frightened,” Cher said, “frightened to go to Las Vegas with him for the weekend.”

“I regretted it forever. I regretted it with Marlon Brando, too,” she told ABC.

One man she did take the leap to go on a date with was Tom Cruise, the singer revealed.

“He just was the most adorable man that you can possibly imagine,” she said. “I have to say, I don’t understand the scientology thing because I don’t understand it, you know. Sonny was a scientologist. I didn’t understand that either.”
