Ben Falcone Reveals Wife Melissa McCarthy’s Birthing Advice: ‘Don’t Film It!’

Ben Falcone plays the husband of first-time mom-to-be Elizabeth Banks in “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” but the actor himself has had some birthing practice – with real-life wife Melissa McCarthy.

Parents to two children, Ben told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson he received some important advice from his wife when it comes to the delivery room.

“Don’t film it!” the comedian and actor told Shaun at the film’s junket on Friday.

Ben – who most will recognize as the air marshal alongside Melissa in “Bridesmaids” — said when he and Melissa were in the delivery room, his wife laid down some ground rules.

“It was never even an option for me to [film or look below the waist], but also she was like, ‘Don’t go down there… Just don’t walk past this point.’ And she kind of marked it off, even though she was drugged,” he explained. “She was like, ‘This is the point where you will not be walking. You are stopping there. Walk there. Let me see you do it. And, stop. That’s it. That’s where you need to stop.’”

Melissa is known for bringing the laughs, but Ben said the delivery room atmosphere became a comedy circus on the day she gave birth to one of their children.

“It was crazy. Ours was like a wild [experience] ‘cause they played music for us,” he said.

“They let me make a playlist,” he continued. “Melissa was like, ‘Just, you know, make whatever songs.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh God, these songs! These are the songs that my baby is going to come out to.’”

After Melissa gave birth, Ben took the opportunity to play “Conga” by Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine.

“I was like, ‘Why did I put that [on]?’ And I put it [on] too late because the baby was already there,” he said.

“What To Expect When You’re Expecting” opens May 18 in theaters.
