Beyonce: ‘I Have Poured My Heart & Soul’ Into New Album

It’s been two years since Beyonce’s Grammy-winning “B’Day,” but don’t call the pop star a slacker when it comes to her new album.

“I have worked on this album for close to one year,” she wrote in a letter to fans on MySpace. “I have taken the time so I can create my sound. I have poured my heart and soul into it. It is my baby.”

In discussing the album, which is due on Columbia Records on November 18, Beyonce admitted it was the “most time I have spent on any project” since her teenage days in Destiny’s Child, Beyonce has apparently been putting her days in the studio to good use.

“I have recorded over 70 songs and have created a sound that reveals all of me,” she wrote. “The music is upbeat for the dance, fun side and it is reflective, passionate and serious for the personal side.”

And fans should be prepared to hear something they’re not expecting.

“I have taken risks here,” she wrote. “I am not afraid and my music will explain it all. There is no label or tag on my sound.”

Listeners will get a taste on October 7, when two new singles, “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies,” will be released to radio. Beyonce will take her new sound on the road in 2009, with a North American tour in the works for early summer after international dates in the spring, according to Billboard.
