‘Biggest Loser’s’ Jillian Michaels Reveals Pending African Adoption News & Her Plans To Return To TV

Jillian Michaels shocked “Biggest Loser” fans when she recently announced she’d be leaving the hit weight loss show at the end of the current season to focus on starting a family. Now, the tough-talking trainer is revealing she is one step closer to achieving her dream.

“I want to start a family,” Jillian told Access Hollywood at the Maxim party in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday. “I’d like to take a year off of television and really focus on – I’m in the middle of the adoption process – and really focus on that and hopefully becoming a mother in the next year and putting all my energy into that for awhile.

“And then back to TV later in 2012,” she added.

While Jillian is thrilled about the end result, she said the adoption process is “an incredible undertaking.”

“I’ve completed all of my paperwork; I’ve had all my physicals; I’ve been checked by the FBI – you have no idea!,” Jillian told Access. “Now I wait for a referral. That could be anywhere from six months to a year. I’m in a pilot program for the Democratic Republic of Congo so we’ll see.

“Then you get your referral and then you have to try to bring your kid back home,” she continued. “So, it’s a process… but I’m excited for it!”

Jillian may have abs of steel, but she’s not impervious to the mid-life wind-up of the dreaded biological clock.

When asked if she’d prefer a boy or girl, the fitness guru said it “doesn’t matter.”

“I’m 36! Do you hear the clock? It doesn’t matter!” she laughed. “As long as there’s a little teeny person with me, I’ll be good.”
