Billboard Awards Drama: Whitney Houston’s Family Vs. Ray J?

Emotions — and tensions — were running high at the Billboard Music Awards, when Whitney Houston’s family and the late singer’s former boyfriend, Ray J, faced off over his seat at Sunday’s show, according to a source very close to Ray J.

The source tells Access Hollywood that Ray J was seated next to the Houston family, who was on hand to accept the Millennium Award on behalf of the singer, who died on February 11.

The source told Access that Patricia Houston – the late singer’s manager and sister-in-law – had her security ask Ray J to move, when they arrived at the show to find him seated next to the Houston family.

Just prior to Jordin Sparks’ tribute to the late singer, where she performed “I Will Always Love You,” we are told eight uniformed officers arrived on the scene. The source tells Access they were planning to physically remove Ray J.

Before a confrontation ensued, the source tells Access that Patricia’s security advised her that Ray J’s removal would cause a scene and she backed off.

Ray J remained in second row seat as Houston’s 19-year-old daughter took to the stage to tearfully accept the Millennium Award on behalf of her late mother.

However a rep from the Houston family tells Access otherwise.

“That story is not true. It’s ridiculous. The Billboard people arranged seats and all was fine,” a Houston family rep told Access.

A rep for the Las Vegas Police Department told Access they do not have a record of the incident and a Billboard Music Awards rep told Access they were not aware of the incident. Additionally, a rep from MGM also told Access that they were unaware of the incident.
