Billy Joel’s Daughter Sings About Her Mom’s Latest Split

October 12, 2006 — The daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley is singing about the end of her mom’s fourth marriage.

Brinkley split from Peter Cook amid allegations of his infidelity.

Alexa Ray Joel has released “Sketches,” a CD of six songs she wrote and released online. And she sings about the split in the song, “Now It’s Gone.”

Alexa Joel tells People that she wrote the song in a day. She says, “It came really naturally” and helped her get rid of some of her anger.

Joel says her mom is doing well and “always rises above a situation that’s filled with sleaziness or darkness.”
