Blake Shelton Apologizes For ‘Inappropriate’ Jokes After Twitter Controversy

Blake
Shelton is saying “I’m Sorry.”

The country
superstar came under fire on social media over the weekend, after a series of his
alleged past tweets resurfaced and sparked a mini backlash.

While the
tweets in question have since been deleted from Blake’s account, on Saturday one user shared what appeared to be screenshots of posts dating back to 2009 that
contained language some considered derogatory toward women, minorities and the
LGBT community.

“Standing in line at a coffee shop in LA talking with
the man in front of me. He orders a skinny caramel latte. I couldn’t tell he
was gay!!!” one post from 2011 read.

“Wish the d***head in the next room would either shut
up or learn some English so I would at least know what he’s planning to bomb!!”
another read.

Blake addressed the controversy via Twitter on Wednesday, posting a statement to his nearly 18 million followers.

“Everyone knows comedy has been a major part of my career and it’s always been out there for anyone to see. That said anyone that knows me also knows I have no tolerance for hate of any kind or form,” he wrote.

The 40-year-old acknowledged that while his taste
may not please some, he doesn’t support spreading negativity.

“Can my humor at times be inappropriate?
Yes. Hateful? Never,” he continued. “That said I deeply apologize to
anyone who may have been offended.”

Bryan’s Crash My Playa concert in
