Blake Shelton: Miranda Lambert & I Are ‘Buddies’ After Divorce

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s divorce took their fans by surprise.

In an interview on the “Bobby Bones Show” on Wednesday, Blake said he and Miranda didn’t have to keep their separation a secret for long, as the legal process moved very quickly.

“In Oklahoma, it happens so fast. Like, Miranda and I didn’t have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, whatever we had,” the “Sangria” singer said. “Once we filed for divorce, it was over in, like, I think it was like a nine or 10-day waiting period until it’s over.”

The now-former couple remained tight-lipped about their impending split until papers were filed.

“We knew if rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that,” Blake said. “By the time anybody knew anything, it was over… it was done.”

Blake and Miranda wanted their divorce to be amicable.

“Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this. It is what it is,” he told the radio host, adding that he and the “Automatic” singer are “buddies.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Blake and Miranda announced their divorce in July after four years of marriage.

“This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately,” they said in a joint statement at the time. “We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
