Blake Shelton On His The Voice Future: I Don’t Know ‘How Much Longer’ I’ll Last

The beloved country superstar and singing competition coach has revealed sticking with the NBC hit may not be in the cards in the near future.

“I don’t know how much longer I’m even going to do it,” Blake told Access Hollywood’s Michelle Beadle on Monday in New York City, of continuing with “The Voice.”

The “Honeybee” singer said he and his fellow judges, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green, are being forced to choose between touring and making music, and staying on the show as “The Voice” execs have decided to go forward with back to back seasons.

“It’s their decision [for us to leave], in that they’re the ones choosing to do back to back seasons,” he explained. “They really leave us no other option. As far as Christina and Adam and Cee Lo and I — if we want to tour, there’s not a chance of that doing back to back seasons. That’s not acceptable to me.”

While his experience on the series has been positive, Blake said he eventually wants to get back to making music and interacting more often with his fans.

“At some point, I’ve got to go, ‘You know what– this has been awesome. It’s changed my life, but it’s not my life,’” he said. “I’ve got to get back to what I really do, and that’s country music.

“[And] getting drunk after shows and Tweeting,” he added, with a laugh.

“The Voice” Season 3’s three-night premiere continues Wednesday with more blind auditions – 8/7c on NBC.
