‘Blind Side’ Inspiration Leigh Anne Tuohy Talks Meeting Sandra Bullock’s New Baby

Leigh Anne Tuohy says Sandra Bullock didn’t need any help when it came to deciding to adopt her son, Louis.

“She said, ‘Here he is, what do you think? You better like him, and I could eat him with a spoon’” Leigh Anne, the real-life inspiration for Sandra’s “The Blind Side” character and an adoptive mother herself, told Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts in an interview for Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush Show.” “He’s the most beautiful little baby. I just had lunch with them Saturday. He’s got eyes that have wisdom… I could just stare at him all day.”

As for Sandra’s pending divorce from husband Jesse James and the accompanying tabloid headlines, Leigh Anne said she didn’t have to reach out to the star to help – in fact, it was quite the opposite.

“I need her more than she needs me,” she said. “She tends to be a sounding board for me. She is one lady that exudes character and integrity… I love her immensely. She will weather this storm and I’m sure other ones, as we all do.”

As for Sandra’s Oscar-winning role, Leigh Anne added that she is “forever grateful” that the Tuohy family’s story was told.

“I’m forever grateful that she wanted to take the part of Leigh Anne Tuohy and make it authentic,” she said. “She wore my makeup, my nail polish… It has turned our lives upside down, in a good way. It has given us a platform to talk about the Michael Ohers of the world.”

Oher is a professional football player for the Baltimore Ravens whom the Tuohys adopted several years ago, creating the basis for Quinton Aaron’s “Blind Side” character.

Though Sandra’s the Hollywood star, the Tuohys are now getting their fair share of recognition – including an appearance in this Sunday’s episode of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” airing at 8 PM.

“It was an absolutely amazing experience,” Leigh Anne told Tony. “It fell right into our wheelhouse, of what our passions are. It exceeded all of our expectations.”
