Bob Harper & Alison Sweeney Address ‘Biggest Loser’ Moving On Without Jillian Michaels; Alison Tackles Recent ABC Soap Cancellations

This weekend, NBC confirmed that hit reality competition “The Biggest Loser” will return for another season on NBC’s primetime schedule and trainer Bob Harper has told Access Hollywood that the ship will continue to sail the waters just fine without Jillian Michaels, who previously announced she would not be returning.

“We all love Jillian. She’s one of my best friends and I’m gonna miss her dearly. We’ve been doing this job since the very beginning, but I think it’s gonna give people other opportunities,” Bob told Access Hollywood as he and show host Alison Sweeney took part in NBC’s upfront presentation in New York City on Monday morning. “I think it’ll work out just fine and I think our fans will be very happy. Alison and I are there — the old standbys.”

“The audience is gonna miss her, but at the same time, they are there to watch the contestants too, and we are all about helping them and having people help them, whoever that is,” Alison chimed in.

Alison pointed out that the show – which actually has carried on without Jillian before – in 2006 – will continue to bring highs and lows via the personalities and behaviors of the contenders.

“Every single person brings a new element to the show, every contestant we have has a unique story that’s all their own and we get invested in every single person we meet and I know the audience does too,” Alison said.

Bob said helping people would remain at the heart of “The Biggest Loser” as it moves forward without Jillian.

“There’s always going to be different challenges and there’s always going to be different little twists, but at the end of the day, our show is all about inspiration and really helping these contestants get back on track.”

Beyond “Biggest Loser” talk, Alison, a longtime regular on “Days of Our Lives,” said her daytime soap is working hard to keep things going following the recent cancellations of ABC soaps “One Life To Live,” which will end in January of 2012, and “All My Children,” which will conclude this fall.

“It’s definitely been scary for us with all the announcements, but we feel like NBC believes in us and they’ve invested in us for the next couple of years and we’re there to prove to our fans that we deserve to be around and we’re gonna fight for it,” she said.
