Bob Harper Named New Host Of ‘The Biggest Loser’

Bob Harper is taking on a new role with “The Biggest Loser.”

The longtime trainer will become the show’s new host, beginning in the upcoming Season 17, NBC announced on Tuesday.

Harper takes over for the departed Alison Sweeney, who NBC announced was leaving the show last month.

“I’m super excited about taking the position of host on ‘The Biggest Loser,’ Harper said. “I’ve been with the show since season one so I know all of the ins and outs, and let me tell you, the weigh-in room is going to be a completely different ballgame with me at the steering wheel.”

Although he will no longer be a full-time trainer on the series, Harper will still “continue to offer his training expertise to contestants at various points throughout the season,” NBC noted.

Trainers Dolvett Quince and Jennifer Widerstrom will return as the show’s trainers, with each taking on a team of eight contestants looking to shed the pounds.

The new season – which begins production later this month – will feature eight teams of two (16 total contestants) facing off against each other.
