Bono, Oprah, Clooney Join Celebs On Vanity Fair Africa Covers

From Oprah to George Clooney, Brad to Presidential hopeful Barack Obama,
magazine Vanity Fair makes history in the current issue offering twenty
different covers with over twenty different celebrities, but all with one thing
in common – Africa.

It was an easy job for one of the VF cover star’s, Madonna, but famed
photographer Annie Leibovitz had a tougher time. It took six weeks to shoot
everyone singled out for their do-good work in Africa.

The covers were snapped as a visual chain letter, spreading the message of
Africa from one person to another.

While they appear in pairs, most were shot solo and united through the magic of
technology like George and Oprah then George and Jay Z.

U2 front man and Africa crusader Bono served as guest editor. He said
rounding up all these heavy hitters, wasn’t tough.

“It’s like what do all these people have in common? They don’t but one thing
they do [share] is their passion for Africa and they believe the problems of
Africa can be solved,” he said.

“That’s what this issue of Vanity Fair is all about – to bring some sex
appeal to the idea of wanting to change the world,” he added.
