Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie To Receive Undisclosed Sum After Settling Tabloid Lawsuit

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are set to receive an undisclosed sum after reaching a settlement in their lawsuit with a British tabloid which they sued earlier this year, after the paper ran a story claiming the two had agreed to separate, according to the BBC.

Pitt and Jolie filed a lawsuit against News of the World back in January, following the story, which also claimed the couple had met with top divorce attorney Sorrell Trope to work out a custody agreement related to their six children. The couple denied the claim shortly after the story was published.

“I have never met… your clients or had any involvement with either of them,” Trope said in a statement, used in the case, according to the BBC.

A lawyer representing Pitt and Jolie in the case against the paper, said in court in London on Thursday that the News of the World is now acknowledging that their story was “false and intrusive,” the BBC reported.

Additionally, Keith Schilling, the couple’s lawyer, reportedly said the Sunday paper had agreed to publish an apology and the paper must also pay the couple’s legal costs. The BBC reported the couple would donate the costs and damages – an amount of which was not revealed, to their charity, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
