Brad Pitt: World War Z Was Made For My Sons

The Brangelina boys love zombies and dad Brad Pitt has made a film just for them – and hopefully also audiences around the world.

The zombie craze was lost on Brad until just a few years ago, but thanks to sons Maddox, 11, Pax, 9, and Knox, 4, the actor has become a self-professed aficionado of the undead.

“Four years ago I knew nothing about zombies but now I consider myself an expert,” he told reporters at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, per Deadline.

And when it came time to securing the rights to Max Brook’s best-selling zombie apocalypse book, the actor/producer thought of his sons.

“This whole thing started because I just wanted to do a film my boys could see before they turned 18, one they liked anyway, and they loved zombies. So we settled on Max Brooks’ book called ‘World War Z,’” he said.

Bringing the book to the big screen came with its own set of obstacles.

“We were faced with two Herculean challenges. How do we keep the global spectacular dynamic scope of the book and how do we originate a zombie film that’s been done quite often and really, really well?” he continued.

Adding, “We got a little carried away. I think you are going to like this as much as my boys are going to.”

“World War Z” opens in theaters on June 21.
