Brandy & Maksim Chmerkovskiy On Audrina’s Departure, Carrie Ann’s Controversial Judging Style

Brandy and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy seem to be unbeatable on the dance floor, having become the new frontrunners on “Dancing with the Stars.”

Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts visited their rehearsal this week and found out, despite Audrina Patridge having provided real competition for the pair, Brandy didn’t think “The Hills” beauty should have been sent home.

“I was very shocked,” Brandy told Tony. “I don’t think she deserved to go home, I think America got it wrong with Audrina.”

With six weeks left in the ballroom, Brandy finds herself at the top of the pack, but it was judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s Tweet about how she judges that had Maks up in arms.

“I do have to judge everyone the same and part of what I judge on is based on their own abilities. Sometimes when someone is GREAT and … they make a smaller falter, it shows up more obviously than when someone is not great all around,” Carrie Ann Tweeted earlier in the week, referring in particular to Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough, who landed in their lowest spot on the leaderboard after a few missteps.

“She wants to put us down and give us the same score for a minor detail?” Maks sighed.

“Well, Carrie Ann how many people do we have — seven? She gave five 8s and two 6s. [Do] you seriously think that we have five couples that are on the same level?” Maks continued. “I want to ask Carrie Ann that, do we have five couples, five celebrities that dance the same way?”

“I don’t think she’s watching Maks,” Brandy chimed in.

“Well, she will be now,” he replied.

While they may not always appreciate their scores, one thing Brandy is thankful for – the changes to her body brought upon by weeks of work in the studio.

“Physically, I think my body is a lot stronger,” she told Tony. “Of course I’ve been introduced to muscles I didn’t even know I had… I just think that I’m definitely becoming more and more confident as the weeks go by and that’s a great thing because I can take the confidence that [I’m] gaining here and taking it to other areas of my life.”
