Bristol Palin Confuses Mom Over ‘Dancing’ Result, Gears Up For Week 6

Bristol Palin was relieved when she learned on Tuesday night that she and partner Mark Ballas had made it through to another week on “Dancing with the Stars,” but mom Sarah Palin was just worried.

Bristol’s politico mom hadn’t seen the show when she got a context-free text from her now 20-year-old daughter.

“I said, ‘Safe!!!!’ with a bunch of exclamation marks,” Bristol told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson of her phone message to her mom.

“She was like, ‘Safe? From what? Where are you?’” Bristol recounted of her mom’s text back.

“She wasn’t watching the show?” Shaun asked.

“No, it doesn’t come on [in Alaska] for a few more hours,” Bristol smiled. “I was like, ‘I’m safe on the show.’ She was like, ‘Yay!’ Like all excited.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Bristol and partner Mark netted the lowest score on Monday night’s “Dancing” competition show – an 18 out of 30 – for their jive to the theme from “The Monkees.” The pair were convinced that their performance, which Mark admitted Bristol blacked out during, was going to result in a ticket home. Also convinced they were going home – Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer.

“We both were like, ‘Are you serious?’” Bristol said of the two pairs’ reactions to being told they were safe at the start of Tuesday’s show. “We didn’t believe it, but I’m thrilled that we both got through and we’re moving on to Week 6.”

Bristol said she’s ready to tackle next week, and the two competition dances that come with it, especially now that she’s come out of her shell a bit more on the show.

“I think definitely that I’ve grown a lot as a person and become more confident and I’m just going to have fun with this entire experience,” she said.

Bristol revealed she and Mark will tackle the tango next week and a marathon jive dance-off against the other couples – something they are a little worried about.

“It could last up to four minutes. We’re only used to dancing for like a minute-and-a-half so that is going to be stressful, but I’m excited,” she said.
