British Pop Star Cheryl Cole Joins ‘The X Factor’ As Judge

Simon Cowell will be joined by British pop star Cheryl Cole at the judges’ table on “The X Factor.”

The singer, who sat alongside Simon as a judge on the U.K. version of “The X Factor” for three years, is the latest edition to panel, which also includes producer Antonio “L.A.” Reid, FOX confirmed on Thursday.

“I’m so excited to be taking part in the American version of ‘The X Factor.’ I absolutely love it here in the U.K., and with the talent they have out in America, I’m sure we’re going to find someone very special. I can’t wait to get started,” Cheryl said in a statement released to Access Hollywood. “I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me. He’s tried to beat me for three years in the U.K., and hasn’t even come close. His ego must be so bruised. America is gonna love this.”

The British reality TV mogul said Cheryl knows a future star when she sees it.

“I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with,” Simon said in a statement. “She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.”

The fourth and final judge has yet to be announced, though Paula Abdul is widely believed to be the frontunner.

“The X Factor” will premiere in the fall on FOX.

The winner of the show, which is currently auditioning contestants across the country, will take home a $5 million prize.

In related news, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly heading to “The X Factor” as the show’s host, People reported earlier this week.
