Britney & Kevin Hold Meeting With Their Lawyers

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline spent their son’s birthday having a little get-together — but this was no party.

Federline and his lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, reportedly met with Spears on Wednesday at the Century City offices of her attorney, Laura Wasser.

The meeting fell on the day of Jayden James’ one-year birthday, and five days before the exes are scheduled to appear in family court over their ongoing custody issues. Their other son, Sean Preston, turns two tomorrow.

A source close to Spears said the meeting was Britney’s idea, according to People. “Britney asked for [the meeting]. She wants to put an end to this public debacle,” the source reportedly said. “However, Kevin [has] refused. He needs more money so he’s determined to win this.”

Papers filed in LA Superior Court following the pair’s August 27 hearing list Federline as receiving $20,000 a month in spousal support (ending Nov. 15), and state Britney’s income of being an average of $737,868 per month, according to Kaplan.

“[Kevin is] not going for additional child support in the court papers that were filed. It’s not about the money,” a source close to Federline reportedly told People. When asked if Britney was hoping to settle, the source replied, “She might settle. She’s got stage fright.”

Speaking of stage fright, Wednesday’s meeting marks the first time Britney has been seen out since arriving back in LA, following Sunday’s not-so-well-received VMA performance in Las Vegas.

According to a report from the NY Post’s Page Six, Britney left Wednesday’s meeting clad in floral summer dress and Versace sunglasses, and proceeded to go grocery shopping with her friend Alli Sims.
