Britney Spears
was scheduled to attend the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday, but she was a
no-show.
The pop star took
to social media to explain her absence.
“I
wish I could have been at the People’s Choice Awards tonight but I started
feeling sick,” she said in a statement posted on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
“Thank you so much for voting me Favorite Social Media Celebrity! This is
dedicated to my fans, the Britney Army – without you this would not be
possible.”

singer – who took home her first
People’s Choice Award back in 2014 for Favorite Pop Artist – beat
out Anna Kendrick, Beyonce, Dwayne Johnson and Taylor Swift (who were all no-shows as well) in the Favorite Social Media Celebrity category this year.
