Britney Spears was expected to land in the top spot of the album charts this week, with her comeback album, “Blackout,” but Brit was not watching the skies close enough.

The Eagles swooped in with their first album in 28 years, “Long Road Out of Eden,” to nab the #1 spot on the album charts, Billboard reports.

Britney moved an impressive 290,000 copies of “Blackout“, but the pop star’s return to the top was foiled by a new rule for the charts, as for the first time ever, Billboard/SoundScan is allowing a title only available at one retailer to be included in the chart.

The Eagles new album, “Long Road Out of Eden,” was exclusively sold at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. Fans hungry for new material from the legendary rock group bought a whopping 711,000 copies of their new album.

Previously, albums sold in this manner were ineligible for standard sales charts.

Last week’s chart queen, Carrie Underwood landed in the third spot with “Carnival Ride,” followed by Avenged Sevenfold’s self-titled album, and Josh Turner’s “Everything Is Fine.”
