Britney Spears Goes On ‘The Record’ About Her Past: ‘What The Hell Was I Thinkin’?’

Britney Spears has gone on the record about her troubles of the last several years in a new documentary for MTV, focusing on her pop comeback.

“I sit there and I look back and I’m like, ‘I’m a smart person.’ Like, ‘What the hell was I thinkin’?’” the singer says in a sneak preview of new documentary tentatively titled “For The Record,” set to air November 30 on MTV.

The 90-minute documentary, airing two days before the release of her new album “Circus,” focuses on Britney’s comeback, but in the clip currently on MTV.com, she opens up about her personal life and loneliness.

“Sometimes it can get kind of lonely because you don’t open the gate up that much, you know what I mean?” she asked. “You’re guarded. You have to be that way. So I’m kind of stuck in this place and it’s like how do you deal and just cope and that’s what I do. I just cope with it, every day.”

According to MTV.com, “For the Record” features behind the scenes footage and personal stories from Britney herself.

“I recorded the album,” Britney told the cameras. “I’ve recorded a lot of songs and it’s that process where the fun stuff starts to come.

“It never stopped being fun for me,” she added. “I really always liked what I did.”
